Product Review: Glamisha –Face Wash & Skin Lightening Cream

There are some products you begin trying out with little or no expectations, and they sometimes just blow your mind with how good they are. I received these two products from Glamisha and you can read further to find out if they blew my mind.

Something about the brand

Glamisha is a relatively new skin and hair care brand who believe in using pure ingredients, essential oils and natural extracts to create highly effective and yet gentle products. Available primarily on mobile web, they have a small but growing range of products. From a face wash to skin cream to shampoo and conditioner, they are slowly creating a space in the skin and hair care market.

They are prominent on social media, especially Instagram so you can check them out there.

The Products & My Experience

I received two of their products – The Glamisha Face Wash & Skin Lightening Cream and I have to say upfront, they create a great first impression with their aesthetic packaging.

Glamisha Face Wash with Mulberry & Licorice Extracts

This beautiful product is one that certainly blew my mind in every aspect. The packaging and the product are absolutely amazing and I look forward to repurchasing this one.

Packaging:

A bright orange coloured box with the standard Glamisha design, this certainly looks classy. Inside the box is a perfectly fitted, huge 100ml tube with the same design as the outer packaging. What’s great is that all details are printed on the tube too so the info doesn’t get thrown away with the outer packaging. The tube has a flip-top cover which makes it extremely easy to travel with too.

Ingredients:

A complete list of ingredients is provided on the box as well as the inner tube packaging.

Mulberry Extracts are loaded with anti-oxidants that help in healing the skin. It is also has anti-aging properties that help tighten the skin and diminish fine lines.

Licorice extracts are amazing for sensitive skin. It has an active compound called “glabridin” which helps lighten age spots & discoloration and reduce the appearance of dark circles.

My Experience:

This convenient packaged tube was very impressive. The design itself is something you would like to have on your counter top.

With a pleasant subtle fragrance, it certainly smells appealing. The product is a light blue gel consistency face wash. You need a tiny amount to lather across your face. The product lathers well and easily and it can be washed off with no worries of stickiness or residue. What’s left behind is clean glowing skin. It helps calm down any acne and redness on the skin and helps in balancing oil levels for hours to come. Of course, you would still need a moisturizer but it definitely doesn’t dry out the skin.

Pro’s:

  • Natural extracts of Mulberry & Licorice
  • Non-drying yet removes excess oil
  • Paraben Free
  • Sturdy packaging

Cons:

  • Does contain sulphates

Price: ₹350 for 100 ml

Rating: 8/10 just coz of the sulphates

*As a disclaimer, I do still recommend a patch test for any product to avoid any severe reactions

The Glamisha Skin Lightening Cream with Kojic Acid Dipalmitate & Arbutin

20171123_003453

While I don’t promote skin lightening this is a nice face cream to help fade any discoloration and pigmentation spots one may have on the face. A relatively thick, yet quick absorbing face cream, it’s perfect for daily use for someone with dry or combination skin. Someone with oily skin may find this a little bit too heavy.

Packaging:

Similar to the face wash, this too comes in a tube but in a green design on the outer packaging and the same replicated on the tube. This too has a sturdy flip top which makes it travel friendly.

Ingredients:

Kojic Acid Dipalmitate is a derivative of kojic acid and palmitic acid. It inhibits the activity of tyrosinase present in human skin, so as to reduce the melanin formation resulting in skin lightening and prevention of skin tanning.

Arbutin is a molecule extracted from the bearberry plant that prevents the formation of melanin by blocking tyrosinase. Similar to Kojic acid, but relatively gentle on the skin, this makes the product more compatible for people with sensitive skin.

Both together help eliminate the formation of dark spots and uneven skin tone and result in skin lightening.

My Experience:

The cream seems quite thick when you squeeze the tube but it is very easy to apply and spreads well. It does need to be massaged in to avoid any white cast and does not leave behind any sticky residue. It dries down to a matt finish and keeps the skin well hydrated.

Pro’s:

  • Effectively prevents skin tanning and lightens dark spots
  • Easily absorbed and spreads well

Cons:

  • No SPF so needs a separate sunscreen
  • A little heavy so may not suit those with oily skin
  • A little heavily priced

Price: ₹975 for 100 ml

Rating: 7/10 just coz of the sulphates

*As a disclaimer, I do still recommend a patch test for any product to avoid any severe reactions
