Product Review: Last Forest – Eucalyptus Balm & Strawberry Lip Balm

Today I am going to talk not about just a product but about a brand! A brand that not only focuses on delivering quality products to it consume but also stands for various social causes.

Last Forest

A lesser known brand, one which I intend to highly promote, simply because I believe what they are doing will help bring about a better world for our future generations.

Apologies that I am posting this so late, as I received the products a while ago, but wanted to give you a review after trying out the proucts and unfortunately (or fortunately!) I didn’t really get a cold to try out the eucalyptus balm but ended up trying it out over a slight sniffle.

Something about the brand

lastforest

Last Forest is a for-profit hybrid institution committed to supporting and working with primary communities through its marketing platform.

As people are soon coming to realize, most of the big brands claim their market share by their ingenious advertising & marketing skills. The small-scale producers, generally providing more natural and traditional products, therefore lack a platform to sell their exceptional products.

Last Forest Enterprises is a marketing initiative of Keystone Foundation who aim to spread the message of:

  • small indigenous farmers and gatherers
  • value added organic produce
  • biodiversity and food security
  • indigenous knowledge, traditions and crafts
  • sustainable harvesting & farming methods
  • local employment & markets
  • fair trade principles

Last Forest also promotes products from other areas in the country, with similar values. It runs a chain of 3 stores in Tamil Nadu. It procures produce from over 60 groups across the country and supplies to over 40 retailers.

Last forest is now also a World Fair Trade Certified Organisation bringing you fair trade good to your doorstep.

Primary and Marginal producers, farmers, craftsman and weavers benefit and protect their livelihoods and reservoir of artistic traditions in a sustained manner and we as consumers reap the benefits of access to such amazing products.

The products range from Books & publications, DVD’s, Essential Oils, Food, Herbs & Spices and Honey. They also showcase Soul Tree products and various handicrafts including clothing articles on their site.

The Product & My Experience

I received two products from the brand:

  1. Bees Wax Balm – Eucalyptus
  2. Honey & Bees Wax Strawberry Lip Balm

Let’s talk about each one of them.

  • Bees Wax Balm – Eucalyptus

This small jar of balm is all natural and the perfect balm to have around, especially during the upcoming monsoons. It is a carefully crafted handmade balm infused with eucalyptus oil making it the ideal solution to cure that common cold.

Unlike the usual balms available in the market, this is quite light on the skin, leaves no strong burning sensation but with the extremely strong fragrance it does help clear out stuffy nose quite easily.

An all-natural solution, am sure this I what I will be reaching out for whenever my daughter catches a cold.

Pro’s:

  • All Natural
  • No harmful chemicals
  • Extremely efficient

Cons:

  • None!

It is available in a 20gm screw-top jar and comes at a very affordable price of ₹130.

  • Honey & Bees Wax Strawberry Lip Balm

This tiny little jar is amazing. It’s again an all natural product and I was convinced at that. Since there are various all natural brands available in the market now, the reason one would want to buy this is simply knowing the background and being content with the feeling that this purchase would be benefiting someone in need.

Ingredients:

Bees Wax, Olive Oil, Essence

Pro’s:

  • All Natural
  • No harmful chemicals
  • Nourishing & moisturizing

Cons:

  • Doesn’t last too long, needs reapplying
  • The colour should have been matched with the essence, as I received a strawberry version but it was a pale-yellow balm. I guess this was to avoid the use of any artificial colouring so this can be ignored.

It is available in a 5gm screw-top jar and comes at a very affordable price of ₹100.

The products rate an 8/10 in my opinion but considering the cause I would recommend this as a must buy. Would recommend checking out their other products too because I certainly am going to fill up my cart!
