Every morning we wake up with the first thought of sipping on a cup of tea or coffee to begin the day. Some of us need that jolt to wake us up in the morning, and that specific jolt is what we going to talk about today – Caffeine!!
Most abundant in our Coffee & Tea, this magical ingredient is not only good to wake you up everyday, but it has amazing benefits on your skin and hair too.
Understanding Caffeine a little better:
Caffeine is basically a bitter white crystalline alkaloid. It is a stimulant drug that is found in varying amounts in the seeds, leaves and fruits of some plants. Caffeine has proven to be very beneficial if taken in restricted quantities.
Let’s look at some benefits of Caffeine:
Caffeine has also been proven to reduce the risk of developing cancer and is a powerful neuroprotectant ensuring eye health and improved memory. It’s also proven to be exceptionally good for the liver. It helps reduce the risk of diabetes with its disease-fighting antioxidants. It helps sharpen your brain as it causes the release of dopamine, the brain chemical that stimulates the area of gray matter. It is often used in the treatment of migraine and headaches. It also aids in weight loss, is proven beneficial for cardiovascular health and improves muscle performance and stamina.
Caffeine is exceptionally beneficial for the skin too. It helps fight free radicals, which are responsible for causing premature skin aging like the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and loss of elasticity. The antioxidants contained in caffeine can attack these free radicals and eliminate them. This improves the overall appearance of skin and is widely used in anti-ageing day and night creams in conjunction with retinol. Caffeine is also known to possess anti-inflammatory properties that make it useful in reducing inflammation and redness in your skin. Dark circles can be caused by various factors such as dehydration, allergies, lack of sleep or genetics and even though caffeine cannot cure hereditary dark circles, its anti-inflammatory properties make it beneficial in reducing puffiness and inflammation associated with dark circles. Caffeine also reduces the accumulation of blood under your eyes which contributes to dark shadows.
Caffeine has been proven to beneficial in reducing cellulite too. Caffeine applied topically dehydrates the fatty cells. This results in the water disappearing from the surface of your skin. This minimizes the appearance of cellulite, thus providing you with a smoother skin.
Caffeine constricts blood vessels to reduce redness. This makes it an ideal treatment for facial flushing and rosaceae. When applied topically, caffeine works as a diuretic, aids in circulation and is also a powerful antioxidant. Thus, it has the ability to calm irritated and reddened skin caused by sun damage and rosaceae.
Studies have indicated that caffeine may also repair the skin damage caused by exposure to UV rays. It is considered a stronger antioxidant than the polyphenols contained in green tea. In fact, it is among the best and strongest antioxidants to combat UV damage. Another added benefit of caffeine is that its topical use can tighten fine lines and smooth puffy skin.
Caffeine is also used for the treatment of hair loss. It stimulates hair growth and helps making hair manageable.
Caffeine can provide various benefits for your skin, hair and health. However, this is only possible with the right dosage of caffeine. Excessive intake of caffeine has been reported to cause adverse effects on your health
Now something about the brand
After so many insights into this ingredient, I need to introduce you to an Indian brand that is rocking the current market with its revolutionary Caffeine infused products – Mcaffeine.
A team of focused entrepreneurs came together to develop India’s first Caffeine infused personal care brand. their products range from face, body and hair care products including a face wash, face cream, shampoo, shower gel, body butter & hair cream, all including one -prime ingredient – Caffeine.
With so much said, lets have a look at the products I have been using:
I decided to test out a couple of their products. They are available through their website (www.mcaffeine.com) and also available on Amazon (From where i purchased my products), Flipkart, Purplle, Snapdeal & Shopo.
Currently using two of their products from their Face Energizer range and below is my experience and opinion of them:
Mcaffeine Fresh Pop Caffeine Face Wash with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E
Perfectly packaged, there seems to be a strong thought behind the packaging of their products. This face wash comes in a user friendly chubby, cute bottle with a clasp lock to avoid any spillage. Very sturdy material, the product itself looks rich and classy. And absolutely appreciate the lock, makes it easy to travel with, though the size is a little large for a travel kit.
Paraben free and cruelty free.. this product ticks a lot of boxes!!
This is a white opaque face wash, with the pump packaging dispensing exactly what you need with a single pump. Not too thick or not too runny, this face wash is easy to use. It foams easily into a thick, rich lather and feels beautiful on the skin. It has a subtle pleasant fragrance, though i would have expected it to smell more of coffee.
My opinion about the product
The face wash spreads easily lathering into a rich foam. It doesn’t sting or leave any unexpected sensation on the skin, but it leaves behind a rich hydrated feeling. It does take a couple of washes to clear off completely but that’s acceptable, and whats left behind is clean, hydrated skin. The subtle scent lingers providing a fresh feeling.
As my skin has been quite prone to breakouts recently, and the redness has been visible in certain areas, this face wash really did help calm it down. After washing my face, i didn’t need to immediately moisturize,, yet the skin felt supple and extremely soft.
I honestly didn’t expect it to be so good, but the product has definitely impressed me. It seems to be an overall great buy and isn’t to heavy on the pocket either.
Surprisingly, Amazon has better offers that the official website so you may want to check before buying. It’s available on Amazon for 449 and gets delivered within a day or two.
Uplift Trance Caffeine Face Cream with Jojoba and Vitamin E
The second product i tried from the brand is their face cream. This cute little jar, designed in a red finish, quite contrast to the face wash in blue, comes in just one size of 50 ml.
The first thing i noticed when opening the jar is that the brand is very conscious of their packaging. The jar comes with a screw top and has an inner lid as well to ensure no leakage. The inner seal is quite sturdy too.
It is a white, thick consistency cream, with the jar packed to the brim. It has a very subtle scent too, and just as the face wash, i really wish it had a coffee scent.
My opinion about the product
An extremely thick looking cream, this product really surprises you. Though the consistency looks so thick in the jar, it spreads beautifully on the skin. I use my cream after a toner, as should you, and a small blob with a light massage is all you need and it just absorbs into the skin like magic. It doesn’t leave behind any sticky residue and yet it plumps up the skin instantly. It really does give a brighter look to the skin, primarily because of the hydration effect, and it does last a long time. The cream is good enough to keep your skin hydrated for the day, and the only major disadvantage is that it doesn’t have SPF, but then again, that’s what sunscreens are for!
At 350 for a 50ml jar, this is quite reasonable on the pocket.
My honest opinion about the products: It’s great to see an Indian brand picking up on an international trend of highlighting caffeine as a major ingredient in their products, and being amazingly successful at providing these products at great prices while maintaining high standards. Kudo’s to the Mcaffeine team.! Will definitely be trying out their other products too and soak in the benefits of Caffeine.
